Let me present a recent poll: 28% of (registered Democrat) Clinton voters would prefer McCain to Obama (58% commit to voting for Obama). 19% of Obama voters would vote for McCain over Clinton (72% commit to voting for Clinton). There’s still hope: these surveys are terrible, when it comes to making predictions. I expect those numbers to shrink once clips of McCain pledging a hundred year war become more common.
But taking the numbers at face value, I have a nuanced message to a quarter (=(28+19)/2) of democratic voters: “Bugger Off.”
